Beijing to start restricting cars for cleaner air

Beijing will take nearly a third of government vehicles off the road and limit the use of other cars starting next month in the hope of improving the Chinese capital's air quality and traffic flow, a city bureau saidSunday.

Solar-powered cars start epic race around SA

Six solar-powered cars set off from Pretoria on Sunday on an epic, two-week race around South Africa.
The cars, which were all designed and built by teams in the race, range from what looks like a modified golf cart to something that wouldn't look out of place in an episode of Star Trek. But they are all feats of engineering.

Higher instalments now because of interest rate increase

PETALING JAYA: Car buyers will have to pay more in monthly instalments now that hire purchare interest rates have gone up.
Just a few months ago, banks offered interest rates at around 2.5%. Now, the rates are between 3.4% and 4.7% for new cars.
Maybank hire purchase senior manager Nor Siah Othman said the bank had experienced a drop of about 40% in car loan applications in the past two months due to higher rates.
